Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 : In Images

Posted on 21:54 by Unknown

samsung-galaxy-note-8.0-leaked.jpg

It took a couple of rumours, a confirmation by the Samsung Chief and a supposed press render for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to grace us with its appearance for real, at least according to DDay.

The Italian forum has posted a few images of the device that seems to have been photographed very carefully so as to not reveal much detail. Nevertheless, what we can see is that design wise, it looks like an over-sized Galaxy S III and nothing like Samsung's previous tablet offerings.

The tablet sports the same curved chassis as seen in the Galaxy S III and another possibility is that it could be used as a phone, considering the image shows a speaker grill housed on the top. We think Samsung may have stretched it a bit too far this time.

One of the images also shows the S-Pen holder at the bottom right of the tablet. The device also sports the traditional menu, home and back buttons. Though the images look pretty real, we wouldn't completely ignore the possibility of them not being final after all, considering what Samsung did with the Galaxy S III in an attempt to keep the final design under wraps.

As far as rumoured specs go, this new tablet is expected to sport 8.0-inch 1280X800 TFT (Super Clear LCD) display. It may come in two versions - Samsung GT-N5100, which will be a 3G+Wi-Fi version and the GT-N5110, which will be a Wi-Fi only version. The dimensions of the tablet will be 211.3X136.3X7.95 mm and it will weigh around 330g.

Other alleged specs for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 include 4600mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, option of 16 or 32GB as internal storage, 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera. Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is likely to run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Other connectivity options may include Bluetooth version 4.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and A-GPS.

Just a day ago, we heard rumours of the tablet being priced under $300. Also, apart from the Galaxy Note 8.0, the Korean manufacturer is planning to launch 7-inch and 10.1-inch tablets as part of the company's next generation Galaxy tablets that will be branded as Galaxy Tab 3. They will come with and without 3G support and will feature a 5-megapixel camera.

These Galaxy tablets will be developed under the codename "SANTOS" and their new code numbers would be GT-P3200, GT-P3210, GT-P5200 and GT-P5210. Additionally, there will also be a high-end tablet from the Korean manufacturer, the GT-P8200 currently codenamed "ROMA" that will come in 16 and 32GB variants.

Galaxy Note 8.0 key specifications
  • 8-inch 1280×800 TFT (Super Clear LCD)
  • 1.6GHz quad-core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16/32GB (optional) with microSD expansion up to 32GB
  • 5-megapixel rear camera
  • 1.3-megapixel front
  • 4,600mAh
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, A-GPS
  • EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) HSPA+21.1Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps (850/900/1900/2100)

Google doodles on Indian Republic Day

    Posted on 21:44 by Unknown
Google has doodled a tiger on the India home page as a mark of respect on the occasion of the country's 64th Republic Day. The Republic Day in India is celebrated as the day India's own constitution came into effect on 26th January 1950.

While India gained independence from the British on 15th August 1947, it continued to be governed by the Government of India Act 1935, which was a relic of the British era. Thus, the Republic Day, is seen as the day India broke all ties from the British-empire, especially since it was amongst the Commonwealth countries that refused to recognise the British Queen as their head of state after independence. Other countries like Australia and Canada, continue to have the British Monarch as their head of state till date.

Republic Day India commemorates the date that the Constitution Of India was enacted and became the document that governed the country. On January 26, 1950, the Indian Assembly's 308 members signed two handwritten copies of the new Constitution, an English and a Hindi version, and two days later the Constitution became the law. Drafted by a committee headed by B R Ambedkar, the Constitution replaced the Government Of India Act Of 1935 that had previously governed colonial India, and declared the country a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.

The Republic Day India doodle 2013 shows a tiger in all its glory. Last year, the doodle depicted three elephants decked in finery, each with two children and a tricoloured umbrella on the back, a reference to winners of the bravery awards who take part in the Republic Day parade held in New Delhi every year.

“The luxury car market in India has seen a fair amount of growth in the last few years, and continues to grow at a significant rate each year. The emphasis has shifted from pure price consideration to design, quality and pleasure,” said Pavan Shetty, Head of Operations, Lamborghini India. The car can immediately be recognised by the unique profile of its upper area, which extends along newly-designed geometric lines from the removable roof to the engine hood.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just three seconds flat and has a maximum speed of some 350 km per hour.

In 2012, Lamborghini India maintained growth momentum with a 21 per cent increase in sales.

Lava Launches Xolo X500, An Atom Based Android Smartphone

    Posted on 20:48 by Unknown

Intel’s Z2420 chip which was featured by the company at CES 2013 is being used in Lava’s second Intel powered smartphone. The device which is called Xolo X500 will be the first such device to use the Atom Lexington Z2420 chip. The company’s first Intel smartphone, the Xolo X900, was released last year and uses the Z2460 chip.

    Xolo X500 Technical Specifications :

    • 3.5-inch TFT display with 480X320 pixel resolution
    • 1.2GHz processor with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
    • 512MB RAM
    • 4GB Internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD
    • 5-megapixel camera
    • 1,500mAh battery
    • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)

If the specifications seem familiar to you then you are right since the Xolo is practically the same as the Yolo which is an Atom based Android device targeting the African market. The Xolo on the other hand will be sold in the Indian market. One thing that they differ on is the pricing. While the Yolo is sold in Kenya for $126 the Xolo on the other hand is sold in India for $168 which is a bit more expensive.

The Atom Z2420 processor used in this device is a single core processor that uses hyper threading technology. Intel says this provides a 10%-15% increase in performance however is in no way more powerful than a chip with two physical cores.

One feature that the Xolo X500 has that most people will find useful is its dual sim capability. This means that you will be able to insert two SIM cards from different networks on it and use both of them simultaneously. This makes it more convenient for users since instead of carrying two phones only one phone is needed this time.

As far as the specifications go it really is a low end device targeting the budget conscious consumer. It’s best suited for those who want a no frills Android device for daily use.
